York Model Railway Show 2016 – part 1

This was my first trip away from home with a layout – I’d been given the opportunity to join the team operating Hope-under-Dinmore at the three-day exhibition over the Easter weekend. It meant being away for five days with the travelling, but Joy didn’t seem to mind.

We had a good trip there and back, avoiding most of the traffic, stayed in a very pleasant hotel, paid a flying visit to the National Railway Museum, and was introduced to ‘real ale’ by my railway friends.

I only have photos of 11 layouts, the ones I personally like the most – apologies if your favourite isn’t here.

Outwell Village (4mm, 00) by Alan Price

Borchester Market (4mm, 00) by Newhaven & District MRC

Saltdean (7mm, 32mm gauge) by Peter Smith

(Unfortunately, quite a few pictures we’re not good enough to include)

Broadford (3.5mm scale, 16.5 and 18.2mm gauges) by Iain & Aileen Hunter

First time I’ve seen a model of an Australian railway – can you spot Iain and Aileen?
