The Mixed Traffic model railway website was developed to fulfil three functions.
- Online railway model shop (now all items sold!)
- Document my model railway project
- To demonstrate how an effective website will benefit model railway industry traders and retailers
Online railway model shop
The online model railway shop was one of a number of online eCommerce shops I’ve built for clients over the years. The shop is no longer live, as nearly everything has been sold!
Originally, additional stock was to be sourced and listed, but with so many other work and family projects taking my time, this has been put on ice for now.
However, if you’re a trader or dealer in the model railway world (and even if you’re not), do get in touch for a no-strings chat about your website or blogging project. You can call me, David, on 023 92 503 742.
The Mixed Traffic project
I’ve been a model railway enthusiast for some time, starting as a tot with a tin-plate railway. After many years away from the hobby, and with a house move and relocation to the South Coast in 2015, it has meant I finally have the physical space and time to rediscover this passion for model railways.
Much of the stock I’ve found in boxes was bought more than twenty-five years ago. Although in its early stages, my model railway layout project is now very different … so there’s some catching up to do! I’m amazed at the quality of the RTR railways (Hornby, Bachmann, Heljan), but sad that so many of the small kit and equipment makers are no longer trading.
As an experienced website developer who also happens to be a railway modeller, I’ve been looking at many model railway traders and retailers’ websites. Many are out-dated and few are well-optimised (poor SEO). A website needs to be constructed and written well to appeal to human visitors and Google’s search engine.
I’m keen to expand the ‘day job’ into the model train sector – to unite my internet skills with my passion for model railways. If you’d like to know more about how I can help you and your business, give me a call on 02392 503 742, or send me an email to .
